Together, we’ll prioritize your healing.

You deserve to experience grounded peace and to delight in who you are and the life you are living.

My approach is strengths-based, and my goal is to help you not only heal, but thrive.

While I am prepared to address a range of circumstances that might bring you into my office, I have two areas of specialty: People-Pleasers, and Stress & Anxiety.

Therapy for Stress & Anxiety

Anxiety sucks. You feel exhausted from the thoughts circling in your head and your fruitless efforts to quiet your mind have you feeling depleted and uneasy. You may look calm on the outside, but internally your mind races, your stomach is in knots, and it’s been too long since you had a good night's sleep. You’re overwhelmed, and it’s starting to get in the way of your ability to focus and enjoy your life.

Anxiety is our body’s way of communicating that something needs attention.

Together, we’ll get curious about what your anxiety may be trying to communicate to you. I’ll help you tune into your body’s cues, get to the root of unhelpful thought patterns, and learn to use accessible strategies to calm and center your body and mind. Some degree of anxiety is universal, and a healthy part of being human, and with some work, your relationship to anxiety can shift from an overwhelming/debilitating one, to one that informs you of what you need and empowers you to take action. No matter how long you’ve been dealing with this or how bad it’s gotten, you can regain a sense of calm and control.

Therapy for People-Pleasers

Many of us were socialized to show up, get the job done, and pour into others, but we were not taught how to show up for ourselves in equal measure. Early experiences like distracted, overwhelmed, emotionally unavailable caregivers or chaotic home environments actually program us to diminish our needs as a necessary way of getting by. This can leave us all grown up, but still caught in patterns of self-neglect, putting everyone before ourselves and consistently disappointed when they don’t reciprocate our efforts. Thankfully, as adults, we have a chance to rewrite the narrative, and therapy can be the perfect place to peel back the layers, heal the wounded parts of us that learned to exist in this way, and begin to make decisions that honor and uplift us.

Your past does not have to dictate your future. You can learn how to prioritize yourself and still be a wonderful partner, parent, sibling, colleague, and friend.

In our work together, we’ll honor and unpack your story, and begin to repair the impact and origins of self-neglect. We’ll prioritize your needs and help you get comfortable with setting healthy boundaries, so you can live the joyful, fulfilling life that you deserve and experience healthier, reciprocal relationships with yourself and others.

My approach:

Since our bodies have been with us from the beginning, they hold the entirety of our story, but the way we think about traditional talk therapy neglects to factor in our embodied, lived experience and the vital resource this can be for our healing.

My approach is influenced by Polyvagal Theory, AEDP, EMDR, and Somatic approaches to therapy, meaning that I am attentive to your thoughts and emotions, and also how these are stored in your body and experienced through your nervous system. This lens allows us to tune into what your body is communicating in the moment and intervene to create new patterns to build safety and better support you in your current circumstances.

Our bodies are wired for healing, but first and foremost, they’re programmed to keep us safe. Because of this, our past traumas and distress can cause us to get stuck living out an old story or defaulting to self-protection mode, making it difficult for us to feel at ease and live in the present moment (Check out my blog post to learn more about this). For many of my clients, this can show up as insomnia, stomach issues, racing thoughts, excessive worry, or just a general sense of dis-ease and disconnection from self and others.

The good news is, we can use this information to consciously heal and create new patterns that can have a powerful impact on how we feel and move through our lives.

Our bodies are full of untapped wisdom and can be a tremendous resource for our healing. My somatic approach to therapy equips my clients with strategies to calm, soothe, energize, and uplift ourselves as needed. I use a combination of approaches tailored to meet your specific needs, which include AEDP, EMDR, Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy, Parts Work, Embodiment Practices, and Attachment Theory. This holistic, trauma-informed approach to therapy has been tremendously healing and empowering both for my clients and myself, and it can be for you, too.
